Purpose
The Economic Development Commission advises the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on matters that affect the economic life of the community. The Commission also advises on local economic issues relevant to long-term planning and development of the city. It also helps to promote economic stability, vigor and balance within the business community. Additionally, the Economic Development Commission helps in encouraging business retention and productivity.

Meetings
First Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Economic and Community Development office, 1920 S. Germantown Road.

Members
The commission consists of 12 members, including Chairman James "Bo" Adams, Matt Monteath, Bruce Meisterman, Jabin Newhouse, Brandon Toney, Cliff Sulcer, Melissa Kimbrough, Michele Johns, Dane Williams, Mark Ruleman and Alderman Mary Anne Gibson.

Germantown Business & Industry Summit

The City of Germantown and the Department of Economic and Community Development, together with the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to present the second annual Germantown Business & Industry Summit.

This event will bring together state and local business leaders to discuss development in Germantown and economic activity in the Memphis area as well as the state of Tennessee.  The keynote speaker will be Randy Boyd, the State of Tennessee Economic & Community Development Commissioner.

The event will open with welcome and remarks from Mayor Mike Palazzolo. Commissioner Boyd will provide an update from the state. A development panel actively involved in current and upcoming developments in Germantown will provide insights and information regarding industry trends and how those relate to development and redevelopment within the City. Following the development panel, Dr. David Ciscel, economist with Memphis Forensic Economics will provide a local economic report.

A light breakfast will be served to start the day. The Germantown Annual Business & Industry Report will be distributed to all attendees.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Individual tickets are $50 and a table of eight is $350.
