Purpose

The Historic Commission provides for the development and preservation of historic documents, structures, areas, oral history, pictorial history and other materials deemed essential to the historic significance of the City of Germantown.

Meetings

Third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Location varies. The commission does not meet in December.

Members

The commission consists of 12 members appointed by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and includes Chairman Kyle Eaton, Vice Chairman Marissa Rogers, George Browder, Edna Guntert, Dale Hicks, Sandra Wilson, John Paul Miles, Lucie Calvin, Angela Griffith, Sara Barton, John Vaden and Brian White - DRC Liaison. Non-Voting members include Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Caleb Marcum, Alderman Sherrie Hicks, City Historian Andrew Pouncey and Staff Support Teresa Martin.

Senior Safety Seminar

Germantown seniors are invited to join public safety officials from the Germantown Police and Fire Departments on Thursday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Pickering Center, 7771 Poplar Pike, to hear the most up to date information on home and personal protection. Topics will include personal safety, internet safety, scam prevention, and neighborhood watch practices. A complimentary box lunch will be provided.

Space is limited, so reservations are required. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 757-7376 to secure your reservation. This event is sponsored by the Germantown Senior Citizen Advisory Commission.
