Public Input Opportunity: Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) Grant Funding Projects

  • Date: 09/24/2024 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

The City of Germantown is seeking grant funding for several project initiatives throughout our community. Your feedback and input is valuable to help guide the course of these important efforts. The City of Germantown Engineering Department will present these project initiatives during the Germantown Neighborhood Summit. The expo will take place on September 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at The Great Hall & Conference Center, 1900 S Germantown Road.

The City is pursuing grant funding for improvement projects at C.D. Smith Road from Hacks Cross Road to Winners Circle and also for ADA Transition Plan Improvements through the city's public right of way and city owned facilities. These projects have been identified through studies performed in our community and  directly align with the grant funding requirements.

C.D. Smith Shared Use Path: The nearly 4-mile path, which will connect existing bicycle and pedestrian facilities on Hacks Cross Road and include a trailhead parking area at Winners Circle aims to improve safety and accessibility for both pedestrians and cyclists.

ADA Transition Plan Improvements: The city engaged Kimley Horn & Associates to perform the ADA Transition Plan, which is required to remain eligible for state and federal project funding. The outcome of this study included prioritized improvements throughout our community for ADA specific access needs. The highest priority needs, as identified in this study, will be presented for consideration as part of this grant funding opportunity.

City engineering staff, along with representatives from our engineering consultant counterparts with Kimley Horn & Associates, will present exhibits and be available to answer questions and gather input on these proposed improvement projects. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts.
