Meetings

The Tree Board meets bi-monthly (as needed) at noon at the Parks and Recreation office, 2276 West Street. The Tree Board does not meet in June or July.

Members

The Tree Board consists of seven members and includes at-large member Chairman Michael Shelton, at-large member Sarah Barton, At-large member Jessica Seidner, Parks & Recreation Commission Liaison Kevin Young, Neighborhood Preservation Commission Liaison Gerald Wilson, Design Review Commission Liaison Paul Bruns, Beautification Commission Liaison Albert Pope, Planning Commission Liaison Jennifer Sission as well as Alderman Scott Sanders, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Caleb Marcum, Planning Staff Liaison Sarah Goralewski and Staff Support Teresa Martin.

Susan Maakestad, an accomplished watercolor artist and former professor at Memphis College of Art (1997-2020), holds an M.F.A. from The University of Iowa. Her work, which includes a large-scale public art commission at Memphis International Airport, has been exhibited nationwide and is held in collections like the Tennessee State Museum and Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. She has been a fellow at MacDowell and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Registration is required.
