Community Forum: Superintendent Qualifications

The public is invited to help identify the qualifications and characteristics most important for the planned Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD) Superintendent. Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) will conduct a community forum on Tuesday, October 15, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Germantown Municipal Center, 1930 S. Germantown Road. The meeting is scheduled to conclude at 7 p.m.

Dr. Tammy Grissom, Executive Director of TSBA, will lead discussion during the community forum. Questions to be addressed include:
• What are the challenges facing the new school district?
• What are the strengths of the schools currently operating in Germantown?
• What are the most important characteristics for the district’s superintendent?
“Public input is important to help us identify the best fit for a superintendent to operate the Germantown Municipal School District,” said Tammy Grissom. Meetings with school board candidates and the Board of Mayor and Aldermen are scheduled for earlier the same day.

The City of Germantown contracted with TSBA to conduct the search for the district superintendent. The resulting pool of qualified candidates will be presented to the GMSD School Board immediately after they officially take office in December. School board members are responsible for hiring the superintendent.
