Germantown’s two water treatment plants produce an average of 7.1 million gallons of fresh, clean water from the Memphis Sand Aquifer each day. The City has the capacity to produce 24 million gallons daily.
Apply for Service
To apply for residential or commercial water service, please email your name, your service address and the date you require service to WaterApplications@Germantown-TN.gov. A $150 deposit is required for homeowners. Renters pay a total of $225 which includes a $150 deposit and $75 application fee. These fees will be billed on your first utility statement. Water Emergency
To report a water emergency on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., call (901) 757-7350. To reach a technician after hours, call (901) 757-7338. Every homeowner should be familiar with the location of the private cut-off valve(s) inside the home. Using the water cut-off valve in the water meter box is permissible only during an emergency and requires a special key tool.
Water Billing and Online Payment
Customers are mailed an invoice monthly for water usage, sanitary sewer and solid waste disposal. An addressed return envelope is included with each bill. Payment options include cash, check, MasterCard or Visa. Customers may return payment by mail, have it automatically drafted from their account or pay online. Drop boxes are located at the front entrance and on the north side of Germantown City Hall for payments by check. *When making a payment online, always verify that the bank account number you entered is correct before submitting. The online payment system will not automatically indicate invalid or incorrect account numbers. If an incorrect account number is submitted, a returned check fee will be applied, in addition to any other amount due by the customer.
Paperless Water Billing
Would you prefer to receive your utility bill by email? Paperless utility billing is available as a way to control costs and support environmental sustainability. Those who choose to sign up for the paperless service will no longer receive a paper utility bill by mail. Bills will be emailed to the address that you provide. To request a paperless billing application, email your name and your service address to WaterApplications@Germantown-TN.gov .
