The Public Works Department is the multitasking superhero of the City. Each of its five different divisions has its own superpower: The Streets and Drainage division keeps the roads smooth and the water flowing in the right direction. Water Services and Sewer Services are the dynamic duo managing H2O matters, and last but not least, Animal Control swoops in to keep things in check with our furry friends. Together, they form the powerhouse that keeps the community running smoothly.

The Public Works department is located in the Public Works Complex at 7700 Southern Avenue. Office hours are weekdays, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

With a staff of 69 dedicated employees, Public Works strives to provide Germantown residents with:

  • well-maintained streets, signs and stormwater drainage
  • an animal-friendly shelter
  • an ample supply of pure low-cost water
  • nearly trouble-free sanitary sewer system
  • street sweeping
