Living Landscape Series

Ecological Functions in the Landscape

Strawberry Plains Audubon Center Staff will teach students to build home landscapes and gardens from the canopy down to the roots.  With a focus on native plants, along with the vision for a healthier living space, students will start with the tree canopy and work their way down through herbaceous plants.  Discussions will highlight individual plants, their site requirements and aesthetic qualities, including their benefits to wildlife.  Students may attend the entire series or choose individual classes according to their needs.  The series will culminate in field trips to mature native landscapes and to Strawberry Plains Audubon Center, so that students can experience what they can accomplish on their own property with the knowledge they have gained.
