Crime Time - RESCHEDULED

Join us for a 90-minute workshop on crime/mystery writing with Malice in Memphis a Killer Writing Group. Crime writing is best described as any story in which a crime has been committed—murder, fraud, con, embezzlement, etc. The program is being offered both in-person and virtually. Participants may choose to attend at the library or receive a link for the Zoom meeting. Ages 18+. Pre-registration is required and begins November 18. For more information, call 901-757-7323, email rbabb@germantown-tn.gov, or visit the information desk.

Malice is a mystery-writer’s organization that meets the second Saturday of the month either on Zoom or at the Bartlett Library—or both.  The group is open to all writers of all genres since every good story MUST have an element of mystery in it. Malice offers critique groups, the possibility of publication in an anthology of short stories, and tips on improving writing skills.

THE PRESENTERS:

Richard Powell, a former forensic psychologist, began writing fiction in 2016. So far, he has sixteen books on Amazon in five different series—World War II, terrorism, mystery, humor, suspense. Three of his books hit the Amazon best-seller list in their categories.  His only short stories appear in Malice anthologies.

Larry Hoy, biker, writer, legend, is the incoming president of Malice in Memphis and martial arts expert. In addition to his series of mysteries and paranormal horror novels published by Hit World Press, Larry has written short stories in “The Shadow over Deathlehem” and “Potter’s Field 6” anthologies as well as several Malice books. It is well known in Malice that Larry’s lasagna is deadly.

Malice president and former journalist/public relations consultant Jackie Ross Flaum writes mystery/suspense, historical fiction, and Boomer lit. She has short stories in anthologies such as “Stories through the Ages: Baby Boomer Plus,” the mystery book “Now There was a Story,” the crime writers’ “Low Down Dirty Vote II” and as the upcoming Low Down third edition. Her stories are included in the literary journal “Backchannels” and (soon) “Black Cat Mystery Magazine.”  Available on Amazon, her historical mystery novel, “Justice Tomorrow,” introduces two young detectives in the Sterling Brothers Ltd. series. Her historical suspense novella on Amazon, “The Yellow Fever Revenge,” is set in Memphis in a time of another American epidemic.
