Arbor Day Dogwood Tree Giveaway

In celebration of the City's Tree City USA status, the City of Germantown will be giving away 900 trees on Friday, March 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. at in front of Huey's at the corner of Germantown Road and Farmington Boulevard. Trees available include White Dogwood, Nuttall Oak, Red Mulberry, Shumard Oak and ButtonBush. The rain date is Saturday, March 5.

The trees are available to Germantown residents only. Residents will be asked to show a valid driver license or current water bill.

“We are very excited to be celebrating Germantown as a Tree City USA and carrying on our tradition of making trees available,” said Pam Beasley, Director of Germantown Parks and Recreation. Representatives from the Germantown Beautification Commission and Germantown Tree Board, sponsors of the Arbor Day event, will be on hand to answer questions and provide tree planting information. There will also be several local vendors specializing in tree and plant care.

The Beautification Commission will also be giving away free, easy-to-grow wildflower seeds to encourage homeowners to support pollinators and diversify their property with native flowering plants. Mixes will include: cone flowers, daisies, asters and milkweed (the host plant for the Monarch butterfly).

For more information, contact the Germantown Parks and Recreation department office at (901) 757-7375.
