Approximately 50% of adults have experienced headaches within the previous year, and headaches are consistently in the top five most common reason for visits to the emergency department. There are more than 150 different proposed types of headaches broken up into two major categories: primary and secondary headaches. The tension headache is suggested to be the most common, yet so often it is mismanaged by medical professionals. Migraines also display a wide range of presentations including light sensitivity, pain, visual aura, nausea, and temporary blindness. Jason Ward, a local physical therapist, will give a summary of headache types and share how you, the headache sufferer, can better understand these life altering symptoms and discover self-care strategies to combat and manage them. Ages 18+. Pre-registration is required and begins September 9. For more information, call 901-757-7323 or visit the Information desk.
