Make a Traditional Dragon Centipede Kite

Join local creatives Sharon and Charles Havelka for a FREE interactive workshop to celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival by collectively creating a traditional Dragon Centipede Kite. The length of the kite is determined by the number of participants, so let's see how long this dragon can be!

Once completed, the community kite will be displayed in the library and will hang near "Amalgamation" the city’s newest public art display created by Sharon and Charles Havelka.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is a harvest celebration observed by many cultures in East Asia to honor the full moon and reunite with family and friends.

While registration is not required, interested individuals should do so to help determine the amount of supplies required. Registration begins September 3. For more information or to register, call (901) 757-7323 or visit the youth services desk.
