In addition to service to the community, the Germantown Fire Department is also very actively involved with preparedness activities at the local, county, regional, state and federal levels. These activities provide service to our community in areas such as mutual aid, incident management, technical rescue, emergency management and urban search and rescue.

The Germantown Fire Department currently has a Class 1 rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO) and its Public Protection Classification program.  Class 1 represents superior property fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area’s fire suppression program does not meet ISO’s minimum criteria.  Generally, the price of property insurance in a community with a good fire rating is lower than in a community with a poor fire rating.  This could mean measurable savings in insurance premiums for homes and businesses alike.
