In January of 2022, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) approved the appointment of Jason Huisman as Germantown’s City Administrator.

Prior to joining the City of Germantown as the Assistant City Administrator in 2017, Huisman’s public service journey began in 2010 as the Village Administrator in South Holland, Illinois, a community known for its emphasis on Faith, Family and Future. 

As a former Southeastern Conference (SEC) and professional athlete with a business administration degree from the University of Mississippi and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Illinois, Huisman brings a unique blend of experiences to his civic service.  Notably, his lessons in self-discipline and focusing on the process have been valuable assets throughout his public service career.

As Germantown's City Administrator, Jason Huisman is committed to leading the City’s workforce with excellence, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the City's progress. His values-centered leadership philosophy is grounded in "The Germantown Way." 

In Germantown, the City Administrator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• assisting the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) in the development of a long-term vision and strategic plan for the City;

• direct supervision of the City’s department heads;

• preparation of a comprehensive annual budget and capital improvement program;

• management of the City’s budgets, programs, projects and performance management systems; 

• the recommendation and implementation of organizational and legislative policies; and 

• the overall conduct of City affairs.  

Huisman’s primary objective is to drive performance excellence at every organizational level within each of the community’s Forward 2035 key performance areas. In alignment with the community’s vision, the organization’s vision is “to be the model for excellence in the delivery of municipal services” and its mission of Excellence, Every day. is carried out daily by exceptional public servants who strive to lead responsibly, deliver service excellence and produce A+ results for every customer.
