Germantown City Clerk Michele Betty, has ascended through the ranks since joining the Germantown team as an Administrative Assistant in January 2000. Over the years, Michele's dedication and expertise have shaped her journey, leading to her current role as City Clerk/Recorder, a position she assumed in May 2016.
Michele's commitment to excellence is underscored by her professional certifications, including becoming a Certified Municipal Clerk in 2020 and achieving certification as a State of Tennessee Clerk and Recorder in 2018. Complementing her professional achievements is a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Memphis earned in 1992.
Essential job functions:

Attend all Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings to record transactions.

Prepare and publish minutes and agenda for semi-monthly Board meetings.

Maintain official municipal records in proper order according to State retention regulations and City Charter including but not limited to ordinances, resolutions, minutes, contracts, titles, and deeds.

Keep the City Code of Ordinances current and accurate.

Process beer permit applications and liquor store Certificate of Compliance applications and collect and record

receipts of annual privilege taxes.

Post public notices on bulletin boards, website and newspapers.

Maintain custody and appropriate use of the City seal.

Assist Board of Mayor and Aldermen with annual appointments of citizens to Boards and Commissions by collecting applications, preparing copies and following up with notifications to citizens.
