The City of Germantown offers competitive salaries and an excellent benefits program for full-time employees including:

Health Insurance

Begins on the 61st day of employment. Spouses are ineligible if they are offered coverage elsewhere:

  • Medical

  • Prescriptions, including mail-order

Retirement Benefits

  • Defined benefit plan for all employees hired after July 1, 2013, mandatory employee contribution rate of 7% beginning after six months of employment
  • Employees are fully vested after 10 years.
  • Normal retirement at age 62 

Life Insurance

  • No cost to employee
  • Benefit amount is three times salary, maximum amount $300,000

Thirteen paid holidays per year as follows:

  • New Years Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President's Day
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day 

Employee Leave Time 

  • Vacation 
    • Employee accrues 3 weeks per year for the first nine years, increasing annually thereafter through 25th year.
  • Sick
    • Employee accrues 8, 8.5 or 12 hours (depending on shift length) each month. May be carried over each year with 1000 hour cap after January 1, 2018.
  • Bereavement
  • Military

Disability

The City provides short-term and long-term disability coverage at no cost to the employee.

Educational Assistance

  • Reimbursement for tuition and academic fees up to a maximum of $3000 per fiscal year
  • Courses taken must be job-related
  • Must receive a grade of B or better
  • Must reimburse the City 75% of the total amount used if employee leaves City employment within two years of participating in the program.
