Inspector Don Taylor, Commander
Personnel of the Communications Center dispatch all police, fire and EMS calls for the City and monitor radio transmissions on the police and fire radios. The Center serves as the 9-1-1 public safety answering point for Germantown. The Center also serves as a distribution and collection point for citizen’s vacation requests, complaints and work orders. The public safety dispatchers also perform jail duties which include processing prisoners, maintaining jail records and ensuring prisoner security and safety. The city jail is a 10-bed, adult only, 72-hour holding facility. Prisoners that require more lengthy detention are transferred to the Shelby County jail. The Communications Center is furnished with state of the art work stations and equipment to ensure the highest quality service delivery.

Take Me Home Program
The Germantown Police Department has made the commitment to participate in the Take Me Home Program. The Take Me Home program is a database developed for people who may need special assistance if they are alone or during times of emergency. Caregivers are required to complete a form with the individual's demographic information, a current digital picture and contact information for the caregiver.
