Customers can use their own cart for back door collection as long as they are 45 gallons or less and weigh less than 50 pounds when loaded. All trash must be secured in plastic garbage bags and placed inside the container. Material outside the container will not be picked up at the back door. Containers must be in an accessible location with no pets or locked gates. Recyclable material, yard debris, large items, cardboard boxes and excess trash must be placed at the curb. 

Curb-Side Collection - Monthly fee $29.50 
Curbside customers must use a new, City-provided 96-gallon green trash cart for collection. The first household trash cart ordered from the City is included in the sanitation fee. Additional carts may be ordered for a one-time usage fee of $75. Personal containers and carts from previous contractors may no longer be used.

Please place household trash, yard waste and recycle carts at least three feet apart to allow clearance on all sides. The container handle and wheels need to be placed toward the house for proper disposal. Trash must be placed behind the curb (or between the curb and sidewalk) by 7 a.m. on collection day but not before 6 p.m. the day before. Waste Pro has until 7 p.m. to complete collection. Carts must be removed from the curb by 8 a.m. the day following collection. Per City of Germantown Ordinance, all waste containers must be stored behind the front line of the home and should not be visible from the street.

Construction Debris
Construction debris generated by the resident is limited to one cubic yard (size of a washing machine) per collection day (wood, landscaping timbers, fencing, decking, cabinets, carpet, flooring, siding, etc.) that will be collected at no charge. For quantities larger than one cubic yard, contact Customer Service at CustomerService@Germantown-TN.gov or at (901) 757-7200 to arrange for a cost estimate for pick-up by Waste Pro.

Removal of contractor-generated construction debris is the responsibility of the contractor/homeowner.

Items containing refrigerants such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners require certification from a licensed technician stating that the refrigerant has been removed. Once certified and tagged, state law requires doors be removed before refrigerators and freezers are placed at the curb for pickup. There is a limit of five cubic yards for bulk items that can be placed at the curb per week.

Do not mix furniture, construction debris, landscape timbers, household garbage or other bulky items with yard debris. To assist with collection, contact customer service at CustomerService@Germantown-TN.gov or (901) 757-7200 to order pick-up of large items.

Sand, dirt, mulch, gravel, concrete, bricks, stone, sawdust, steel, steel poles, tile, auto parts, roofing, shingles, glass, mirrors and lawn mowers are not collected at the curb. These items are accepted at Germantown's semi-annual Amnesty Dumpster Day event.

Homeowners are responsible for properly disposing of medical waste including syringes.
