Purpose
The Board hears appeals regarding decisions of code inspectors or other administrative officials, interprets the official zoning map as to designations, considers uses on appeal for special uses in residential zoning districts and considers variances where exceptional practical difficulties or hardships are involved.

Meetings
Second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Germantown City Hall, 1930 South Germantown Road.

Members
The Board consists of seven voting members, including Chairman Jodie Bowden, Vice Chairman Frank Uhlhorn, Planning Commission Liaison Jim Jacobs, Andy Bland, Rick Towne, Laura Meanwell, and Alderman Mary Anne Gibson. Also present are: Assistant City Attorney Josh Whitehead and ECD Staff Liaisons Sarah Goralewski, Lillian Haddock, Sheila Pounder and Cameron Ross.

Notice Regarding Electronic Meetings

All local governing bodies in the State of Tennessee have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Germantown is no exception.  In an effort to carry out its governance and operational responsibilities lawfully, and effectively, while also considering the protection of public health, safety and welfare, the Germantown City Administration has taken steps to conduct Board of Mayor and Aldermen and other public meetings electronically.  These actions were taken in response to Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order No. 71, an order extending Executive Order Nos. 16, 34, 51, 60, and 65 which suspended the requirements of the Tennessee Open Meetings Act to the extent necessary to allow governing bodies subject to the act to meet and conduct essential business by electronic means.

 

The public will have access to the Design Review Commission meeting via real-time live video.  For real-time live video access of the meeting, click:  https://www.germantown-tn.gov/government/city-boards-commissions/watch-live-or-archived-meetings

 

The public will be able to view the video recording of the Design Review Commission virtual meeting within 48 hours of the meeting. To view the recording click https://www.germantown-tn.gov/government/city-boards-commissions/watch-live-or-archived-meetings .These measures are temporary, and are due to expire on February 27, 2021 unless further action is taken by Governor Lee.

 

The City complies with the American Disabilities Act. Should you need accommodations, call 757-7200 at least 48 hours in advance of meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENT OPTION (SEE BELOW)

The City of Germantown and the Design Review Commission encourage active participation and engagement with governing by making available public commenting for each item as part of the meeting agenda. Please send your submittals, 500 words or less, to DRCPH@germantown-tn.gov and must include your name, address and phone number. In the subject line, please write the agenda item number and project name (eg. 5A - Forest Hill Grill). All emails submitted by the scheduled meeting date, no later than 12 pm, will be delivered to the Board prior to the 6 pm Board Meeting.
